Company History

In October 1933, H.G. Francis and his wife Vivian began a small business installing coal and wood burning furnaces in the Ottawa area. Throughout the depression of the 30's, H.G. kept the business going by hard work and diversification and commitment to his customers. He added tinsmith and roofing services and in 1939 he began to offer plumbing services.

The distinctive emerald trucks became a familiar sight as the fleet continued to expand to serve the Ottawa area.

The business continued to thrive and in the late 40's and early 50's his two sons, Reg and Hugh, joined the business which now included ventilation services. Reg's son, David, successfully brings the company into the next century as D.R. Francis Plumbing Ltd.

D.R. Francis Plumbing Ltd. is listed on the Ottawa Business Contacts Company Honor Roll and is proud to be part of the history of Ottawa.

But the story doesn’t end there as D.R. Francis Plumbing Ltd. leads the way into the next century with innovative advances in plumbing, boilers, radiant flooring & heating systems, to new purification systems for healthier drinking water. Going beyond basic plumbing our vision for the future includes David’s own personal designs for better home living that saves on our delicate ecology and dwindling natural resources. Working for advances today, planning for a better tomorrow, the legacy lives on.
