BAD NEWS   

Things are going to be even worse than previously anticipated! 

If you have been following the news then you know about the new HST (harmonization tax) that will be going into effect on July 1^st. On the surface it doesn’t seem that bad but that is only because the average home owner in Ottawa isn’t seeing the full picture. 

Here is what we get to look forward to… 

Hydro Ottawa has been approved to increase their rates by 12% in the next year – on TOP of the 8% tax increase – this means your hydro is going up 20% (they already raised prices this year to 6.5 cents per kilowatt hour from last year's 5.8 cents) 

Enbridge gas rates are still going up - Only three months after its last rate increase, Enbridge Consumers Gas is close to getting a 17-per-cent increase in natural gas rate– add this to the new 8% tax increase – this means your gas could be going up 25% 

Ottawa Water & Sewer is increasing their rates by 10% (as approved by the city's planning and environment committee) – on TOP of the 8% tax increase – this means your water & sewer is going up by 18% 

And that is just the tip of the iceberg. You are going to be paying 8% more on every service you buy on top of rate increases! 

These drastic increases at a time of layoffs and downsizing are going to cause enormous hardships for our city residents and in fact many of the families in Ottawa will see themselves in deep financial debt before the year is over. 

It is for this reason that Francis Plumbing & Heating is taking action now in creating the GO Francis brand.

Francis Plumbing & Heating is committed to helping you, our neighbour, survive the hard financial times ahead while improving our impact on our natural resources. This is an ongoing project that we will be updating regularly as more information becomes available or as new technologies hit the market.
